Nicholas Hoffman & Co

Our People

We work with a variety of families – each with distinctive goals and needs. Our team is scaled to meet these needs, and our families have exposure to the thinking of decades of experience.
As a privately owned, founder-led company, we’re able to work efficiently and respond quickly without anything getting in our way. We pride ourselves on investing our time and resources in four areas of significance – the relationships of our families, the training and support of our people, the expertise of our external business partners, and the development of better ways of growing wealth.

photo of Carl Gambrell

Joining Nicholas Hoffman & Co. in 2009, Carl has brought his experience and perspective as an investor to the world of the family office. In addition to being a member and one of the original founders of the Investment Management Committee (IMC), Carl has served in key roles in the Private Debt and Private Real Estate efforts at the firm. Since he began in 1977 Carl has understood that investing is about taking risks. Many investors fail in understanding and evaluating the risk they are taking. The market is a humbling entity and has taught him that you will never understand all your risks, but it doesn't mean you stop in search of that risk. The work and the lessons the market teaches are ongoing.

While at the firm Carl has been able to expand his passion for writing and education. He founded “The Weekly” in January of 2010 and remains today one of its writers. He approaches The Weekly as a way to help readers look at an investment or issue in the market in a non-traditional, but thought provoking manner. His commitment to education has extended to founding the firm's annual Women's Investment Seminar series in the Fall of 2010. The seminars are designed to meet the needs of women investors.
